Nexus Education – ELC (English Learning Center) is seeking enthusiastic and qualified TEFL instructors to join our growing team in Arequipa, Peru. Established in 2005, Nexus Education is an accredited language institute serving over 500 students daily and is recognized for its student-centered approach and supportive teaching environment.

Position Details

📍 Location: Arequipa, Peru

🏫 Institution: Nexus Education – ELC

📚 Position: TEFL Instructor

🕒 Start Date: Immediate openings available, with additional positions throughout the coming months

📅 Minimum Commitment: 3 months

About the Role

At Nexus Education, we focus on creating meaningful learning experiences through active student participation. We are not seeking lecturers; instead, we are looking for teachers who can facilitate engaging lessons that encourage students to communicate confidently through speaking and writing activities.

Teaching Environment

• Average class size: 10 students

• Minimum class size: 5 students

• Maximum class size: 16 students

Adult Classes

• 2 hours per day

• Monday to Friday

• Monthly cycle of 18 class days, including exams

Children's Classes

• Saturdays only

• 2.5-hour sessions

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

✔ Native English speaker status from:

• United States

• Canada

• United Kingdom

• South Africa

• Australia

• New Zealand

✔ TEFL or CELTA certification

✔ In-person teaching practicum with observed teaching practice

✔ Enthusiasm for teaching and cultural exchange

✔ Flexibility and adaptability

New to Teaching?

If you do not yet hold an in-person TEFL or CELTA qualification with observed teaching practice, Nexus Education serves as a host center for the Via Lingua TEFL Certification Course.

Many graduates are hired directly by ELC and begin their teaching careers with us.

Salary & Cost of Living

💰 Teachers typically earn between USD $5.00 and $6.50 per hour

While Peru's educational market does not generally allow schools to provide airfare reimbursement, the cost of living in Arequipa is relatively low, allowing teachers to live comfortably while enjoying the local culture and lifestyle.

For comparison, Peru's minimum wage is approximately USD $1.40 per hour, making teaching salaries significantly higher than the national average.
